On 18 July 2022, His Worship the Mayor of Mandeni Local Municipality, Cllr. Thabani Mdlalose, led a delegation from the Municipality during the 67-Minutes for Mandela initiative at Mathonsi Tribal Court. As part of the day's proceedings, there was a handover of 50 Chairs, 50 Tables and 100 school jerseys donated by iThala Development Finance to Lindayiphi Intermediate School and KwaVusumuzi High School.
The event forms part of many activities planned by the Municipality in partnership throughout the month of July. The Municipalities continues to attract like-minded sectors to come on board and lay a helping hand on various community needs.
Speaking during the handover, Mayor Mdlalose lauded the contributions made by iThala and urged other stakeholders to avail themselves in helping the communities they are housed within.
“It is always good to see companies seeing the need to aid the communities they work within. Such gestures go along way in ensuring the future of Mandeni is safe and secured, among the students here today, some will grow to become future leaders, all thanks to such initiatives.” Said Mdlalose.
‘As a Municipality, we have a host of events that we are going to rollout during the month of July, we recognize Mandela day, but we have also stretched it to become Mandela month so that we can reach the lengths and breadths of Mandeni.”
Meanwhile, in Ward 04, Novas Farm Area, Cllr. Sipho Magwaza hosted a “Free for all” clothing market, handing donated clothes to community members. Each community member was allowed to browse through the clothes on offer and select the ones they need. This initiative was warmly welcomed by all in attendance.
