The Council for the Built Environment (CBE) will convene its second annual Built Environment Climate Change Indaba on 07 – 08 November 2024 at the Sibusisiwe Community Hall, Mandeni Local Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal under the theme “’ Co-creation of spaces and places that respond to just transition”.
The CBE regulates the professions and provides regulatory frameworks within which various statutory councils operate. It provides a leadership role and strategic direction and advises the Minister of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) on policy matters and legislation impacting the built environment sector.
The two-day event will bring together 500 delegates including both the Minister and the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, the House of Traditional Leadership, Mayors and Municipal Managers of iLembe District, the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA), built environment professionals, climate change experts and researchers with a wealth of knowledge across the Built Environment.
The following thematic areas will frame the Indaba discussions:
a. A Regulatory and Policy Environment that supports Just Transition
b. Increased Knowledge, skills, and Capacity to Plan, Design, and Deliver a Resilient Built Environment
c. Improve Community Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Management Capacity
