Mayor Zulu launches Magundaneni Electrification Project

Mandeni Mayor Cllr Sphesihle Zulu brought a sigh of relief to Magundaneni residents in Ward 11 after His Worship, the Mayor introduced the Electrification Project Contractor, (Mode Electrical and Electrotech Electrical) for Electrification of Magundaneni/Mambane area, an event that took place at Magundaneni community hall on Thursday the 28th of September 2017.

Mayor Zulu also announced that the project duration is three months starting from Monday the 2nd of October 2017.

“Last time we met Mcatshangelwa High School where people of this area raised concerns about electricity, secondly we also met at Makhempini sports field where electricity was put on the forefront, but today I’m glad to say that the profiling has been completed and it has come to our attention there are some households that needs the full project and those which needs in-fills,” he said.

He announced that the total of 344 households will be electrified and also clarified that Mode Electrical will deal with the full project, whereas Electrotech Electrical will be dealing with the in-fills.

Mayor Zulu further proclaimed that local people will benefit in as far as job opportunities are concerned and warned local people to refrain from stealing from the project as this hinders the installation process.

In conclusion the Mayor said the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) will be hired and the Project Steering Committee will be launched for the project to run smoothly. On the contrary Mr James Mpanza of ESKOM urged the residents to take care of electricity and refrain from connecting electricity illegally as this causes electrocutions.
