Mandeni Local Municipality, at the heart of SMME Development


Mandeni Local Municipality’s Local Economic Development Office has succeeded in uplifting small business owners from Mandeni through its various programmes rolled out this year. Among these, is the Mandeni Municipal Contractor Development Programme strategy where small constructors were capacitated and given the KwaHlomendlini Sidewalks project to complete which costs a total of R881 355.36. The names of these constructors are, Zinthunzuzo Trading, Msebe Contracting and Trading, Zisayini Trading Enterprise and Akuqeni Trading CC.


During the month of July 2018, this office offered SMMEs support by handing them equipment to the value of R198 000, the aim of this support was to enhance the day to day operations of these businesses. A total of 22 SMMEs from Mandeni benefited from this project.


From July to date, more than 20 business licences were issued, which allows business to operate within the town and the area where it is located. Whilst we support our businesses by issuing business, licence the programme is also intended to protect the general public and ensuring they are spoilt for choice as consumers and contributors to the economic growth of our area.


We have successfully established Community Tourism Organisation to promote tourism industry with our municipality.


Through LED, EPWP, CWP and Infrastructure initiatives, we have created.


A total of 2496 Units has been built through various housing projects which have been rolled out by the Municipality. The Inyoni Integrated Housing Project in ward 10 saw a total of 714 units being built, Macambini Rural Housing covering ward 1, 2, 8 and 9 had 793 units being built while the Mathonsi/Sundumbili Rural Housing project covering wards 5, 10 and 12 saw a total of 989 units being built.
