MULTI-PARTY WOMEN’S CAUCUS BREAKS GROUND

Mandeni Local Municipality introduced the Multi-party Women’s Caucus Committee on 24 October 2018 at Sibusisiwe Hall. According to the Municipality’s speaker, Makhosazana Zungu, this caucus is aimed at giving women from all corners of Mandeni a platform to share information, elevate and offer each other support, impart knowledge, share skills and life experiences.

As part of the proceedings, Zungu took some time to laud the contributions of Mama Albertina Sisulu and urged women to look up to her.

“People like Mama Albertina Sisulu are a good example to us all, it is important for us to try and emulate what they did. We need to step out of the shadows and be leaders in our society” said Zungu.

Speaking on the importance of the Women’s Caucus Committee, Zungu cited that such a platform is important to ensure that women make their voice heard.

“It is important for us to engage with women from different walks of life, when we speak as one it makes it much easier for us to get a point across. As women, we also need to unite and support each other”

Among the influential women who were part of the proceedings is business women Noma Gigaba and ILembe District Municipality Deputy Mayor, Dolly Shandu.

This Multi-Party Women’s Caucus Committee is chaired by Cllr. Malindi Mhlongo in Mandeni Council.
